A minimum of three councils in London are currently dealing with a cyberattack, leading authorities to disable their networks and phone systems while initiating emergency protocols.

The governing bodies for the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, which operate under a shared IT infrastructure, stated that their main priorities are “safeguarding systems and information, restoring operations, and ensuring essential public services continue.”

According to its official site, Hammersmith & Fulham council has also been impacted by the cyber incident.

These councils, which are responsible for services such as housing, social care, and waste management, have not specified the type of cyberattack nor identified any group as responsible. They mentioned that investigations are still underway to determine if any data has been compromised.

Kensington’s official website reported that the source of the cyberattack “has now been identified,” but the council “will not be releasing additional information about the event at this time” while the investigation with U.K. law enforcement continues.
