SBF's appeal hearing is scheduled for November 4, seeking a retrial and alleging bias by the original judge.
BlockBeats News, November 2, according to CoinDesk, the appeal hearing for FTX founder SBF will be held on November 4, two years after he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Each side will be allocated 10 minutes to present their arguments at the November 4 hearing. One side is the team of prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, currently led by former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton, and the other side is SBF's new defense team led by veteran appellate attorney Alexandra Shapiro. During the hearing, the panel of judges may ask questions to clarify details. This hearing will not retry the charges themselves, but will focus on whether the trial process was conducted properly.
According to the opening statement submitted by the defense in September 2024, SBF, as the appellant, hopes to obtain a new trial presided over by a new judge. His team believes that District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the original trial, was biased against SBF and made unfair remarks during the proceedings, which harmed the defense's case.
