A Hyperliquid whale's private key was allegedly compromised, resulting in losses exceeding $20 million.
ChainCatcher reported, according to market sources, a Hyperliquid whale wallet closed a long position worth $160 million in HYPE about 11 hours ago and sold 100,000 HYPE (approximately $44 million). The reason appears to be a private key leak, which resulted in the account being completely drained: around $170 million was stolen from its Hyperliquid account; additionally, about $31 million in assets deposited in the Plasma Syrup Vault (liquidity pool) were also stolen.
After the attack, the "hacker" transferred all the stolen assets, swapped the stolen USDC for DAI, and moved them into two new wallets, where the funds are still being held. The hacker also transferred $31.1 million worth of MSYRUPUSDP to another new wallet.
