Leader of Bitcoin Home Invasion Robbery Gang Receives Additional Sentence for Assaulting Witness
Jinse Finance reported that, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, a Florida man was sentenced to 47 years in prison last September for orchestrating a series of violent home invasions targeting cryptocurrency holders, and last week received an additional sentence for assaulting a witness. Remy St Felix, 25, was sentenced to an extra 7 years in prison for attacking a witness who had testified against him regarding his involvement in large-scale home invasions. According to the official press release, some cryptocurrency holders were beaten and restrained with nylon zip ties during these incidents. Authorities stated that in October last year, at a detention center in North Carolina, St Felix approached a witness who was wearing leg irons and handcuffs and assaulted the witness’s face, head, and body. This incident occurred after St Felix had already been convicted on nine counts, including kidnapping and committing violent crimes with a firearm. It is reported that during the assault, he called the witness a “rat.”
