Ethereum developer "Fede's intern" donates $500,000 to support Tornado Cash co-founder's legal defense after release
According to ChainCatcher, citing The Block, Argentine Ethereum developer "Fede's intern" was briefly detained by police upon entering Turkey, but has since been released and returned to Europe. He stated that the incident stemmed from a case brought against him by the Turkish Minister of the Interior, accusing him of assisting others in misusing Ethereum, allegedly in connection with a certain privacy protocol.
The developer said that his trip was intended to advance a DeFi project and a wine export partnership. He emphasized that his team's previous research on Tornado Cash only involved de-anonymization analysis and that they have never participated in any illegal activities.
Fede's intern stated that he has decided to donate $500,000 to the legal defense of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm. The Ethereum Foundation has previously pledged to provide an equivalent amount of legal support for Storm.
