According to ChainCatcher, Nick Timiraos, a Wall Street Journal reporter known as the "Fed's mouthpiece," wrote that economists mapping CPI and PPI to PCE expect the core inflation rate to remain low for the third consecutive month in May.

  • Core PCE estimate: +0.15% (even lower in May 2024, so the year-on-year growth rate will rise to 2.6%);
  • Overall Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE): +0.12% (due to base effects, the year-on-year increase will reach 2.3%).
  • The annual rate of the US core PCE price index for May will be released tonight at 20:30, with most institutions generally expecting a value of +2.6%.
