The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will host its final Crypto Force Roundtable, “DeFi and the American Sprint,” on June 9, 2025, at its Washington, D.C., headquarters from 1 PM to 5 PM, with a live webcast on the SEC’s website.
As per the SEC’s recent post on X (formerly Twitter), opening the discussion will be Chairman Paul Atkins. He is expected to discuss why regulation for DeFi is important. As part of the series started in March, the event wants to develop a regulatory structure that supports DeFi as well as safeguards both the investors and the marketplace.
The crypto community expects Atkins to stress that DeFi will enable people to conduct transactions independently from financial intermediaries. He is expected to suggest policies that carefully monitor new innovations with his background in leading regulatory efforts.
The roundtable will feature industry leaders like Jill Gunter, discussing blockchain interoperability, Michael Jordan on token value and layer solutions, Omid Malekan on crypto’s philosophical ties to traditional finance Michael Mosier on compliance and national security, and Troy Paredes moderating regulatory insights.
