Memecoins soar as Trump and Musk rivalry on Solana

The public clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has entered a new chapter — this time, directly reflected in the memecoin market. Fueled by social media posts and political disagreements, the conflict has reignited traders’ appetite for speculative tokens, especially those built on the Solana blockchain.

In the past 24 hours, memecoins inspired by the rivalry have totaled more than $355 million in trading volume, according to data from DEX Screener. The highlight was the Official Trump token (TRUMP), which led the ranking with around US$ 228 million in traded volume and once again reached a market value of over US$ 2 billion.

In second place is the memecoin Kill Big Beautiful Bill (KBBB), with almost US$131 million moved since its launch, despite still having a modest market capitalization, estimated at US$12 million.

Other notable tokens include Official Musk (MUSK), which has traded $22 million, and President Vs Elon (PVE), which has surpassed $30 million in exchanges since its inception in May. XPARTY, a direct reference to Musk’s proposal for a third political party in the US, has moved approximately $10 million on its first day of listing alone.

Together, the five tokens accounted for 64% of the $556 million traded among the platform’s top ten most traded tokens.

The spike in activity was sparked by an exchange of accusations between the two businessmen. Trump said on his Truth Social network that he would “end Elon’s government subsidies and contracts” and called Musk “crazy.”

In response, the Tesla CEO posted on X that his influence was key to Trump's election in 2016, in addition to suggesting that Congress replace the former president with JD Vance. Musk also alleged that Trump was involved in Jeffrey Epstein's sealed files, without presenting any evidence: "The truth will come out," he declared.

Trump countered by saying Musk's influence had "run its course," signaling a definitive end to the partnership between the two, which had grown stronger during the 2024 presidential campaign.

As tensions persist, investors are constantly monitoring both parties' social platforms for clues that could predict the next moves of the memecoins associated with this dispute.
