- Hackers demanded 40 BTC after hack with direct threats
The official Instagram account of hip-hop group Migos was the target of a hacker attack on Monday (26), being temporarily used to disclose personal information of the co-founder of the Solana blockchain, Raj Gokal. The action drew attention not only for the leak itself, but also for the demand for a ransom in Bitcoin.
According to reports shared by Andy, co-founder of The Rollup, the attackers posted several images containing scans of passports, identity documents, and other private information, both of Gokal and a second individual identified as “Arvind.” The posts were accompanied by threatening captions and explicit demands for a ransom payment of 40 BTC, equivalent to millions of dollars.

“You should have paid the 40 BTC,” read one of the captions, in a clear tone of intimidation. The extortion attempt also involved modifying the Migos account bio, promoting an alleged meme coin, as well as including links to Telegram channels and audio files.
The content remained visible for approximately 90 minutes before being removed. During this time, the hackers continued to post provocative messages about Solana-related cryptocurrencies, attempting to further pressure the victims.
Blockchain analyst ZachXBT said the attack appears to be the culmination of a social engineering campaign that had been ongoing for at least a week, targeting Gokal directly. While he has not issued an official statement following the incident, previous posts on the X platform indicate that he has been the target of hacking attempts on both personal and professional systems.

Migos' account has since been restored and returned to its normal programming. The case, however, reinforces the digital security risks even for public figures in the cryptocurrency sector. The practice of extortion involving sensitive data and demands for payments in assets such as Bitcoin has become more frequent in the market.
