White House receives over 10,000 comments on 2025 AI plan
The White House announced on April 24 that it received more than 10,000 public comments on its proposed artificial intelligence (AI) action plan, reflecting broad interest as the global race for AI leadership intensifies.
Major AI companies including OpenAI, Meta, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft contributed feedback, alongside academic institutions, non-profits, and industry groups.
A preliminary review identified key themes such as the need for increased investment in US energy resources to support AI growth, efforts to strengthen American AI firms’ global influence through foreign policy, and improvements in domestic infrastructure to advance AI development.
Many organisations advocated for an open and innovative regulatory framework to guide the AI industry while protecting individual rights.
The White House issued the request for public input on February 6, stating that the comments “will help define the priority policy actions needed to sustain and enhance America’s AI dominance.”
National security concerns were prominent among respondents.
“AI model development is an issue of national concern that should be regulated on a national level,” emphasised venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, citing its importance to American security, geopolitical goals, and economic welfare.
OpenAI highlighted China as a strategic competitor, noting the country’s ability as an “authoritarian state” to rapidly mobilise resources.
In January 2025, Chinese company DeepSeek launched its R1 AI model, causing concern in the US tech sector and triggering volatility in domestic equity markets.
AI and cryptocurrency are increasingly seen as transformative technologies with overlapping applications, including AI-powered financial products.
The public input will inform the administration’s policy approach as President Donald Trump aims to establish the United States as the “world capital” of AI and crypto innovation.
