Governor of the Bank of Japan: US Tariff Policy Will Impact Japanese Economy
Kazuo Ueda, Governor of the Bank of Japan, stated on the 17th that US tariff policy will impact the Japanese economy and may have negative effects on international financial markets. Ueda mentioned that, besides directly affecting trade activities, US tariff policy also increases uncertainty, impacting the confidence of businesses and households. He believes that the US tariff policy will exert downward pressure on the Japanese economy. He indicated that it is now necessary to assess the impact of tariffs on the economic and price outlook without any preconceptions and, on that basis, prudently decide on appropriate financial policies.
