User burns over 600 ETH, donates $2 million to WikiLeaks to spread bizarre 'brain control' warnings

An Ethereum user has burned 500 ETH ($1.38 million) to send the latest in a series of bizarre onchain message warnings about “brain control.”

An English translation of the latest message , sent in Chinese at 6:39 a.m. UTC on Monday, stated, "The bosses of Kuande Investment, Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi, have used brain-machine weapons to persecute all company employees and former employees. Even they themselves are also under control."

Kuande Investment, also known as WizardQuant, is a hedge fund based in China that specializes in quantitative trading across various financial markets, including futures, stocks and options, according to its website .

The 500 ETH was sent to an Ethereum null address with no private key, effectively making those assets irretrievable. This process is often referred to as burning tokens, as it permanently removes them from circulation.

It’s not the first funds that the user has burned while sending an onchain message, with a total of 603.38 ETH ($1.67 million) sent to a null address. On Feb. 15, 70.36 ETH ($194,000) was burned with the message reading, "With the continuous development of brain-machine interfaces and mind-reading technology, a new type of crime has emerged: wild animals have become puppets or complete slaves of digital machines."

Another 33.03 ETH ($91,000) was burned on Feb. 10 with a similar message .

Substantial donations to WikiLeaks

Initially funded from OKX and Binance-labeled wallets, the address has also sent a total of 711.52 ETH ($1.97 million) to a WikiLeaks donation address, according to Etherscan labeling. 

The latest WikiLeaks donation of 591.62 ETH ($1.63 million) was made at 7:13 a.m. UTC on Monday, alongside an onchain message that stated, “I am Hu Lezhi, an ordinary programmer and entrepreneur. Since October 2022, I realized that I have been monitored and manipulated by a brain-control organization since birth. When I became aware of its existence, they intensified their harm against me. These past two years have been extremely painful, and I have now lost all dignity as a human being. I have decided to leave this world and also hope that this ugly world will be destroyed soon.”

Another WikiLeaks donation earlier on Monday came alongside the message: “Brain-machine chips have already been deployed on a large scale for military purposes, and all major military powers are using base stations, radio signals, and nano brain-machine chips to control their citizens.” Prior donations contained similar messages .

The user also appears to have sent or donated more than 1238 ETH ($3.4 million) to various other addresses.

The Block reached out to the stated press contact email for WizardQuant. However, the message was returned undelivered as the address couldn't be found or is unable to receive mail. The firm’s listed telephone number also appeared to be invalid.
