Blockstream Co-founder: Quantum computing will enhance Bitcoin signatures, making its network stronger
Blockstream co-founder and CEO, inventor of Hashcash, and renowned cryptographer Adam Back stated that quantum computing could potentially make the Bitcoin network stronger. Industry insiders have previously expressed concerns that due to advancements in quantum physics, quantum computing can execute computational processes at unprecedented speeds, which may disrupt encryption algorithms in the future.
Back posted on X stating: "Post-quantum (PQ) will take at least several decades," which is why hash-based PQ schemes are never feasible: "PQ signature research will eventually produce conservative, thoroughly reviewed, more compact signatures. Bitcoin can consider these schemes as another option."
