Lens community initiates a new proposal to evenly share the cost of new user joining
Web3 social protocol Lens Protocol initiates LIP-6, which aims to standardize the process for new user onboarding, specifying standardized fees to be charged for all applications built on the Lens platform. The proposal states that in order to mitigate potential risks of bot spam within the platform, new users are required to make a one-time payment to create a personal profile, with the transaction fee set at 8 MATIC or $10. However, various applications such as Hey and Tape charge different fees for their respective onboarding processes. The proposal suggests allocating fees in a 50/50 ratio; hence, 50% of the fees will go directly into the Lens treasury to support broader sustainability of the platform, while the remaining 50% will be distributed to wallets specified by corresponding applications.
