The result was massive capital loss and a DeFi ecosystem thrown into chaos. Broader Security Challenges • Sui’s object-centric model increases phishing attack surfaces. • The Move language protects against low-level bugs, but not flawed logic in oracles or permissions In response, Sui launched a 10 million dollar security fund. But critics argue these are reactive steps, not a proactive defense. The Real Debate is Pragmatism or Centralization Supporters claim Sui’s structure is efficient and user-protective. They call it pragmatic decentralization, a governance model that works in real-world conditions. But critics see a corporate style structure with few checks on power. They argue that Sui’s decentralization is more narrative than reality. 💧Sui is fast, innovative and growing. But its governance, validator dynamics and security responses reveal a protocol where control remains tightly held. Until validator diversity increases, token distribution improves and community participation grows, Sui’s decentralization will remain an open question. Performance matters. But so does power.
