Malaysia has taken a strategic step in its digital transformation with the launch Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), developed by MIMOS Berhad, a national applied research company. The new platform, which integrates networks such as Ethereum, Solana and Zetrix technology, has a central focus on simplifying digital operations and expanding connectivity between previously isolated systems.
This infrastructure was designed to offer interoperability between public and private blockchains, allowing companies and public agencies to operate in an integrated, secure and efficient manner. With the aim of boosting the local digital economy, MBI is based on the principles of the government-sponsored MADANI plan, which prioritizes technological progress with social inclusion.
Dr. Saat Shukri Embong, Chief Executive Officer of MIMOS Group, noted that “MBI represents more than just a technological advancement; it is a strategic asset that reinforces Malaysia’s competitive advantage in the global blockchain landscape.” The initiative is expected to attract foreign capital while upskilling the local workforce.
Companies such as Masverse, Cokeeps, iTrace and Heitech Padu are already using the platform in real-world applications, including supply chain tracking and digital identity verification. The infrastructure was built in partnership with the company MyEG and prioritizes the democratization of blockchain use, making it accessible even to those without technical experience.
Another essential feature is the integration with MyDigitalID, which enables everything from simple online registrations to cross-border commercial validations, always with a focus on security and usability. The system maintains high data protection standards without compromising interoperability between different blockchains.
The MBI proposal also involves active collaboration between government, private sector and research centers, forming a sustainable ecosystem for the development of blockchain-based solutions. The launch reinforces Malaysia’s ambition to establish itself as a regional technology hub.
MBI's ability to integrate multiple blockchain networks and facilitate operations between them is seen as a decisive factor for the growth of its digital economy and for strengthening the national data infrastructure.
